The Experience

The home is located right on the Santa Fe River which gives guests immediate access to day-hiking, playing in the water, and listening to the sounds of river water flowing, all within steps of the back yard.

Dale Ball Trails: The Dale Ball Trail system is a 22-mile network of trails in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. These trails are popular for hiking and mountain biking and the trailheads are accessible by foot from the home. The trails offer great opportunities for beginners and advanced hikers/bikers alike, along with amazing views of the surrounding. The best news is dogs are allowed. You can make your loop as short or as long as you want:  for example Loop, 1,2,3 takes me about 1hr 15 min. This trail is very beginner-friendly and not very technical.

Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary: The Audubon center is less than a mile walk from the home. Ranging from common to rare, approximately 190 species of birds can be found in or over the various ecosystems of this sanctuary. The sanctuary is free to the public and we have a few pairs of binoculars for use at the home to take with you.

Beautiful house, excellently maintained

Our excitement built as we got closer to the house, and grew even more once we entered the property. The layout was perfect for a family with children. Plenty of space to spread out and claim a spot! The house was spotless and expertly maintained. All of the bedrooms had king sized beds, which makes for a very relaxing night of sleep. The decor was tasteful, minimal and just what you would expect in Santa Fe. The property owners were kind and thoughtful and made sure we were comfortable upon our arrival. The location was perhaps the best part. Close to downtown Santa Fe's best shopping and restaurants. In addition, the entire family was able to hike and explore the beautiful surroundings in a matter of steps from the backyard. Babbling brooks, fall leaves, and absolute quiet made this a highlight for the kids and I. This property is highly recommended for your stay in Santa Fe.

We had the perfect experience!

Oh my gosh this home has ABSOLUTELY everything. We had fires going and food cooking and wine flowing our whole vacation. We took luxurious baths and watched the stars and explored the forested backyard. We had friends for dinner and beautiful early morning walks. I can’t wait to go back.

The PERFECT Santa Fe Rental

We've stayed in several houses in SF over the years and this house had been, by far, the best! It was spacious, gorgeously decorated, updated for all of our modern needs, and so clean we could eat off of the floor. The location was perfect. Close enough to the action but not too close that you can't escape it. Will book this house again and would recommend it to any friends traveling to Santa Fe!

Beautiful house and great location!

This was the perfect house for our multi-generational group! We've all bee to SF numerous times and have always stayed downtown near the plaza in hotels, but this proved to be a great experiment to stay in a home. Canyon River had a wonderful kitchen, huge island and dining table to gather around and a beautiful outdoor area and we took advantage of all the space. It was nice to have a place to congregate and relax after long days of walking, visiting galleries and shopping. We were able to fix a simple breakfast at the house before heading out for the day, as well. We would definitely consider this home again if we travel as a group.

Spacious Well Appointed Home

This is a beautiful, clean, well-appointed three bedroom home, with big kitchen and dining and living area. The beds are all king size and really new and comfy and firm. In fact, everything seems brand spanking new. Nicely decorated and has everything you need to cook-in, if you wish, including a big new Weber grill on the back patio. Speaking of the back patio, it overlooks a tree covered mountain in the national forest and is good for star gazing. There is quite a bit of parking in the front if you are arriving separately from the rest of your group. A ten minute walk or four minute car ride takes you up Upper Canyon Road to the well-marked trail-head for the extensive Dale Ball Trails system. Also up there is a short Nature Conservatory loop trail. And a little further up is the Randall Davey Audubon Center, free with a short trail, nice garden and lots of hummingbirds. It’s a short drive to Museum Hill or to the Plaza downtown. Nearby Teahouse Restaurant has great sandwiches. Also, I recommend day trips to Bandolier National Monument and to Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks

Perfect setting for girls' getaway

Seven life-long friends met up for a time for R&R and to catch up with each other. The house was beautiful and comfortable. While we love Santa Fe, we had all seen the sights before so we just wanted to have some time with each other. It was the perfect place to do just that.

Great stay in Santa Fe!

We loved our house in Santa Fe! Came for a girls weekend. The house was perfect. The homeowner was so easy to work with and accommodated our special requests. The mattresses were especially comfortable. We loved being able to drive into town for activities but escaping a few minutes up the road to our house with beautiful scenery.

The house is perfect for a group or family. Great Kitchen!

We truly enjoyed everything about this house. It is convenient to canyon road, great restaurants such as Geronimo, the Compound and Cafe Pasqual’s and the square itself. The bedrooms are very comfortable and house is well decorated and very nicely appointed. Our family had a wonderful stay and loved that we could bring our small dog to join in the fun. We look forward to this becoming a family tradition and will definitely stay at Canyon River again.
