Our standard cancellation policy does not allow for refunds due to COVID-19 related concerns. In an effort to offer additional protection in these uncertain times, we have found two travel insurance companies offering Cancel For Any Reason policies. We highly recommend that you look into these options to protect your trip. -
If I (WE) cancel our reservation more than 60 days prior to the occupancy date, the deposit is fully refundable minus a $250 cancellation fee and a 4% credit card processing fee. If I (WE) cancel 60 days or less prior to the occupancy date, AVD will make every attempt to re-book MY (OUR) Reservation.
-If AVD re-rents the property for the week of MY (OUR) reservation at full price, I (WE) will receive a refund equal to 100% of the total paid minus a $250 cancellation fee and 4% credit card processing fee (if applicable).
-If necessary, A Vacation Difference may re-rent the property for the week of MY (OUR) reservation at a discounted rate in order to secure a last-minute reservation. In this case, I (WE) will receive a refund equal to the newly discounted rate minus a 4% cc processing fee and a $250 cancellation fee.
-If AVD is unable to re-rent the property for the week of MY (OUR) reservation and the cancellation occurred 60 days or less prior to the occupancy date, the deposit is non-refundable.
Cancellations to multi-week reservations are subject to the same policy above, however, a cancellation fee of 10% of the total rental rate is applicable in lieu of the $250 cancellation fee.
Partial cancellations to reservations of one calendar month or longer that result in a night count that is less than one full calendar month are subject to Lodging tax, in addition to the policies outlined above.
The cancellation of a reservation with stay dates immediately impacted by state-issued travel restrictions and/or those impacted by a state-initiated regression in the re-opening phases will result in a credit of the full value of payments made to be used in the next 12 months.
CORONAVIRUS UPDATE ON JULY 26, 2020: Each travel insurance provider is handling the unfolding situation somewhat differently. Some will reimburse travelers if they contract COVID-19 prior to or during their trip, or if they are quarantined and unable to travel; others won’t. Medical evacuation services will not transport travelers with COVID-19, nor can they break quarantine restrictions to get you home. While a few travel insurance policies are used to reimburse travelers who cancel a trip because of fear of contracting the virus or because of government travel warnings/advisories, we know of no policies that still do.
Some insurance providers offer “Cancel For Any Reason” (CFAR) coverage; for the pros and cons of that, please read the article from our trusted travel advisor Wendy Perrin “Cancel For Any Reason” Travel Insurance: What It Is and How It Works.
